LEGISLATIVE ALERT

We all know that next year’s budget will require tough choices.  But we need to seize the opportunity to do something brave and rare – advocate to put the next generation above the next election by fully protecting funding for education and children.

I ask you to please do the following three things:

  • Contact your elected representative and ask them to provide additional stable revenues in the 2010-11 state budget to invest in children and in California’s future.  Letters for our local representatives can be found under our Legislative link to the left, just print out, sign and mail.  To find contact information for other districts go to http://192.234.213.69/amapsearch/framepage.asp
  • Support legislation to lower the threshold for passage of both the California state budget and revenue measures in the California Legislature, as well as local school parcel taxes, from the current two-thirds to a 55 percent vote or a simple majority.  California State PTA supports the “Local Control of Local Classrooms Funding Act” and is running a petition drive.  To sign a petition, go to www.improvedschoolfunding.com.
  • Please visit the California State PTA Website – www.capta.org – for more information and additional sample letters.
We really can’t race to the top in education if we sink to the bottom in our investment in children.  Thank you for your help!

Who we are and what we do …

Just about everyone is familiar with the name "PTA".

The Parent -Teacher Association has been bringing parents and other family members together with teachers and staff members to support our schools since 1898.

More than six million people belong to the PTA, making it the largest volunteer child advocacy organization in the United States and, probably, the world.

The Rolling Hills PTA

Sponsors fun, family-oriented events such as the Halloween Party and Talent Show.

Produces the school newsletter, yearbook, and directory.

Provides volunteers for school activities.

Raises funds that it invests in school assemblies, student awards, field trip transportation, mini-grants for teachers, the Learning Resource Center (LRC), and the student chorus, among other things.
